North Coast

St. Francis winery - winery wedding/ reception

The North Coast Region stretches from the redwood forest-rimmed vineyards of Mendocino County south to San Francisco Bay. In between are Sonoma County's diverse valleys and rural charm and its next door neighbor, Napa County, that claims what is perhaps the best-known valley in the world.  A bit to the east, the vineyards of Lake County surround California's largest freshwater lake, Clear Lake. Inland, Solano County grows grapes in two picuresque valleys. Marin County, south of Sonoma has as its southern end, the Golden Gate Bridge.

Central Coast

Hahn Estate Winery - winery wedding, reception
The long Central Coast region travels south from the San Francisco Bay to the edge of Los Angeles County.  Along the way, it reaches east into Alameda County, with its winery-rich Livermore Valley. South of the Bay, the  Santa Cruz Mountains region with its cool mountain vineyards, encompasses the wineries of Santa Clara County, San Mateo County and Santa Cruz County.  Monterey county, cooled by ocean fog and breezes, comes next.  A bit south, San Luis Obispo County's wine country meanders through peaceful valleys. Finally, Santa Barbara County, where vineyards claim vistas of valley and mountains studded with ancient oaks.

Central Valley

Harmony Wynelands - winery wedding, reception

The 400 mile-long Central Valley is one of the largest agricultural valleys in the world.  Nestled between the coastal mountain range and the Sierra Nevada, it stretches from Sacramento in the north to Bakersfield in the south. While vineyards are to be found in abundance, wineries are far and few between - the grapes largely destined for other uses than wine or sent elsewhere.  However, delightful winery wedding venues do exist, with most located in the environs of the city of Lodi in San Joaquin County. A scattering are to be found near Sacramento, California's state capital, and the mid-valley city of Fresno.

South Coast

Wilson Creek Winery - winery wedding, reception
Located just 90 miles southeast of Los Angeles and 60 miles north of San Diego, no wonder Riverside County's lovely Temecula Valley contains more possibilities for your winery wedding than any other single area in California.  Picturesque and lovely, wineries seemingly appear at every bend of the road.  Neighboring San Diego County's wineries are far fewer and more widely distributed.  In both regions, you'll find charming South Coast winery-wedding venues in the embrace of coastal mountains through which cooling ocean breezes blow.
